How to Join a Minecraft Server on Bedrock and Java

En français : Comment rejoindre un serveur Minecraft sur Bedrock et Java

Joining a Minecraft server should take about thirty seconds. In practice people get stuck, and it is almost always one of three things: the wrong edition, a missing port number, or a version mismatch. This guide covers all three, for both Java and Bedrock, using NordikMC as the example.

If you only want the address:

  • Java Edition: play.nordikmc.com
  • Bedrock Edition: play.nordikmc.com, port 19132

Both go to the same server. Java and Bedrock players share one world, one economy and one chat.

First, work out which edition you have

This trips up more people than anything else, and the two editions cannot use each other's addresses.

You have Java Edition if you play on Windows, macOS or Linux and you launch the game from the Minecraft Launcher, where it is labelled "Minecraft: Java Edition".

You have Bedrock Edition if you play on a phone or tablet, on Xbox, on PlayStation, on Nintendo Switch, or on Windows through the Microsoft Store version.

If you bought the game recently on PC you may own both. Check your launcher: they are listed separately.

Joining on Java Edition

  1. Start Minecraft and wait for the main menu.
  2. Click Multiplayer.
  3. Click Add Server.
  4. Put anything you like in Server Name. This is only a label for your own list.
  5. In Server Address, type play.nordikmc.com.
  6. Click Done, then double-click the server in your list.

You do not need a port number on Java. The server uses the default port, and the game fills it in for you.

The server runs the current Minecraft release. Older Java clients are supported through ViaVersion, so most versions still connect without you changing anything. If you do get a version error, switching your launcher profile to the latest release will fix it.

Joining on Bedrock Edition

Bedrock needs the port. This is the single most common reason a Bedrock player cannot connect.

  1. Open Minecraft and go to the Play menu.
  2. Choose the Servers tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Add Server.
  4. Server Name: anything you like.
  5. Server Address: play.nordikmc.com
  6. Port: 19132
  7. Save, then select the server and press Join Server.

That works on Android, iOS, and the Windows version from the Microsoft Store.

A note on consoles

Xbox, PlayStation and Switch restrict which servers you can add from inside the game. There are workarounds floating around the internet, but they involve changing system network settings and we do not recommend or support them. If you play on a console, the simplest path is to join from a phone, tablet or PC on the same account. Your progress is tied to your account, not the device.

If it still will not connect

"Can't connect to server" on Bedrock. Nine times out of ten the port is missing or wrong. It must be 19132.

A version error on Java. Set your launcher profile to the latest release and try again.

Nothing loads at all. Check your own connection first by joining any other server. If everything fails, the problem is local. If only one server fails, it may be restarting, which usually takes under a minute.

You are on a school or office network. Many of them block game traffic outright. Mobile data is the quick way to test this.

What you get when you land

A full survival SMP, identical whether you came in on Java or Bedrock.

You get paid from your first block. Mine, chop, farm, fish, hunt, dig, or just cover ground on foot. Money starts arriving in your first minute, with nothing to sign up for and no class to pick.

Your first four chunks of land are free. No rank to buy, nothing to apply for. Then every level you gain raises your limit, and every five hours you play raises it again.

Your first hour, roughly. You land at spawn with a starter kit in your hands and three crate keys, then take a random teleport out into the world. You pick somewhere you like and claim your land. You break some ore and the money starts. You check the server shop to see what things are worth, then the player market to see what they actually sell for. By the time you log off you own a piece of the map that nobody else can touch, and you have money in the bank.

After that it opens up: twelve skills that level on their own while you play, fifty levels that raise your limits, three quests a day and five a week, crates at spawn and more keys every time you vote, chest shops that sell for you while you are offline, bounties on players, and a warzone with supply drops every three hours if you ever want the risk.

Your phone gets every bit of that. Not a reduced version.

  • 100% custom-coded. Every plugin built for this server, not assembled from a marketplace.
  • EN + FR bilingual. The whole server, in game and in moderation.
  • Java + Bedrock crossplay. One world, both editions, no separate servers.
  • No pay-to-win, ever. Looks and small comforts are the only things that will ever be for sale. Never gear, never stats, never money.

The Alpha Set is retired in December. Season 1 opens in December 2026 and the world resets once before it. The Alpha Set is what comes out the other side. Play during the alpha and it is yours on the Season 1 world, permanently, with the [Alpha] tag beside your name. The Alpha Wings join the set when Season 1 opens. Then it is retired for good and never handed out again. There is one way to own it, and it closes in December.

Java: play.nordikmc.com · Bedrock: play.nordikmc.com port 19132
